The Opportunity

The Associate Analyst plays a key support role within the Commercial Funding Department, contributing to the smooth and efficient execution of funding activities. This position is ideal for an early‑career professional who is highly organized, detail‑driven, and motivated to learn. The Associate Analyst supports departmental goals by assisting with file setup, data entry, documentation management, and coordination with internal and external partners. This role offers the opportunity to build foundational expertise in commercial mortgage funding while growing within a collaborative, fast‑paced team.                                                                                                                                                                                        

How you will contribute:

  • Set up of initial paper & paperless files for new loans
  • Completion of basic loan set up in Optimus, including peripheral security set up & client information set up
  • Deposit trust deposits and commitment fee in the appropriate file on Optimus, and document the paperless file for accounting and audit purposes
  • Coordinate with Accounting Department to ensure funds are received and posted to Optimus in real time basis accordingly
  • Process refunds from suspense accounts in relation to cancelled transactions and/or payment of invoices
  • Reconcile, track remittances and process invoice payments to multiple third-party service providers
  • Receive deposits for broker deals, collect the appropriate documentation, post on Optimus and advise management for reporting purposes
  • Prepare cheque and EFT requisitions for CMHC application fees, Dead Deals, and post approval fees
  • Arrange execution of various documents by the appropriate authorized signatories and distribute finalized documents to requesting parties
  • Maintain departmental files, and support the upkeep of the Commercial Filing Room
  • Conduct high-level review of pooling report to identify discrepancies that could result in securitization issues
  • Create matter numbers on Legal Tracker for legal invoice purposes
  • Contribute to special projects and operational initiatives as assigned by the Associate Director & Team Lead, Commercial Funding

 

The experience you need:

  • Bachelor degree in finance, economics, commerce, law, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Finance, Real Estate, Business or Accounting
  • Bring strong organizational skills and a growth‑oriented mindset to support the team and develop within the role
  • Mortgage experience or general commercial real estate knowledge preferred
  • Optimus experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, verbal & written, with experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Team player with ability to perform extra duties as assigned
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Ability to foster and maintain relationships

 

Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:

  • Office environment
  • Periods of high volume with tight timelines
  • Long periods of stationary position/sitting
  • Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
  • Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
  • Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
