Description

The Bridgeport Y is seeking a passionate and energetic Sports & Rec Instructor to lead and facilitate sports activities for our youth and family programs. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with children and fostering a positive, active, and engaging environment. The Youth Sports Instructor will play a key role in promoting skill development, teamwork, and a love for physical activity in a fun and inclusive setting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and assisting in youth sports activities, including curriculum development and scheduling.
• Ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants.
• Setting up and maintaining equipment and activity areas.
• Engaging with parents and guardians professionally to address any questions or concerns.
• Evaluating program effectiveness and assisting with program improvements.
• Supporting YMCA events and initiatives as needed.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience managing or leading sports or recreation programs for children.
• Strong ability to teach and assist in youth sports activities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patience and enthusiasm.
• Passion for youth development and fostering a supportive learning environment.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must complete all required YMCA training upon hire.
