Job Description

Milton-Freewater Oregon is a multi-cultural community located in the northeast corner of the state within ten miles of Walla Walla, Washington. The Milton-Freewater Unified School is an equal opportunity employer.  The Milton-Freewater Unified School District is now taking applications for the following positions:

Licensed RTI Team Member / Literacy Data Lead - Gib Olinger Elementary

We are seeking a Science of Reading expert to join our collaborative RTI team. At Gib Olinger, we don’t look at literacy in isolation; we look at it as a school-wide system. You will work as part of a specialized team to ensure Tier II and Tier III interventions are effective, while simultaneously partnering with building administration to drive instructional excellence across all K-3 classrooms.

Strategic Leadership & Administrative Partnership

  • Administrative Strategy Sessions: Meet regularly with building admin to review school-wide data trend lines and identify systemic instructional needs.

  • Professional Development: Design and facilitate targeted Teacher PD based on data-identified gaps (e.g., strengthening phonemic awareness routines or mastering program implementation).

  • Data Meetings: Prepare for and lead 100% and 20% meetings, ensuring teachers have the data and diagnostic insights needed for instructional shifts.

Data Infrastructure & Progress Monitoring

As a member of the RTI team, you will be responsible for the "digital pulse" of student growth:

  • Mastery of Data Sheets: Maintain and manage RTI Data Sheets (Google Sheets/District Platforms) to track student groupings, intervention history, and real-time performance.

  • Tech-Enabled Monitoring: Utilize MAP Growth and MAP Reading Fluency alongside curriculum-based measures to monitor the "slope of growth." You will ensure that progress monitoring occurs with fidelity and that data is entered into and analyzed regularly.

  • Technology Integration: Leverage instructional technology to enhance student engagement in Tier II/III settings and use data-tracking to visualize student gaps for parent and team meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Oregon Teaching License: Valid license with a Reading Endorsement (or ability to obtain).

  • Primary Pedagogical Mastery: Deep knowledge of instructional methodologies effective with primary (K-3) students.

  • Data Literacy: Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining data systems to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.

  • Communication: Ability to work in a cooperative, positive manner with students, staff, parents, and administration.

  • Standards Knowledge: Solid understanding of Oregon’s ELA Common Core standards and benchmarks.

Team-Preferred Skills

  • Instructional Coaching: Experience providing feedback or PD to adult learners/peers.

  • Bilingualism: Spanish language skills are highly preferred.

  • Advanced Training: Training in GLAD to support English Language Learners.

  • Tech Proficiency: High-level skills in Google Workspace (especially Sheets) and data visualization tools.

Positions start fall of 2026.  Salary range is $48,288 - $89,058 (depending on the level of experience and education).  The Milton Freewater School District offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package that includes:
