The risk management & business development consultant is a senior, market facing role responsible for driving new business growth, strengthening strategic partnerships and serving as a visible ambassador of the organization within the credit union and commercial insurance marketplace.

This role blends deep insurance and risk management expertise with strong commercial acumen. The incumbent will lead business development efforts, cultivate executive level relationships, represent the organization at industry events, and translate market opportunities into sustainable revenue growth. This position requires significant travel and an active presence in the marketplace.

 

How you will create impact: 

  • Lead proactive market development initiatives to generate new credit union and commercial insurance program opportunities.
  • Cultivate executive level relationships (CEO, CFO, Board, Risk Committees) to expand organizational footprint
  • Lead finalist presentations and high impact client pitches for at risk accounts
  • Serve as a visible ambassador of the organization within the credit union and insurance marketplace
  • Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and association meetings
  • Deliver thoughtful presentations on emerging risk and insurance trends
  • Underwrite and structure complex and nonstandard risks
  • Evaluate coverage structures, pricing strategy and risk mitigation approaches
  • Identify evolving risks and recommend innovative risk transfer or mitigation solutions
  • Mentor internal teams on complex risk analysis and relationship development strategies

 

To join our team:  

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Risk management or related discipline.
  • You have your CIP certification
  • You have advanced knowledge of commercial insurance products and coverage structures that focus on E&O and D&O
  • You have deep understanding on pricing strategy, risk mitigation and coverage design.
  • You have a proven track record of generating and closing new business opportunities
  • You have experience leading competitive RFP processes and finalist presentations
  • You have experience in pipeline management and revenue forecasting experience.

Expected salary range $91,058 - $141,058+

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
