Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Electro/Mechanical Technician will be responsible for supporting the ASD engineering team in the following areas: 

  • Training
  • Technical checkout / trouble shooting
  • Warranty
  • Service contracts
  • Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI)
  • Routine Maintenance Contracts (RMC)
  • Planned Specialize Maintenance (PSM)
  • Remote System Monitoring (RSM)
  • System Enhancement / Retrofits 

JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Work efficiently under the guidance of the “team lead” for the following tasks: 

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings for industrial control systems.
  • Ability to utilize multimeters, tachometers, oscilloscope or other tools to diagnose, troubleshoot and analyze industrial control systems. 
  • Familiarity of variable frequency drives and programmable logic controllers.
  • Familiarity with “Human Machine Interface” (HMI) using commercially available products such as Wonderware or RSView.
  • Ability to communicate and execute training activities.
  • Provide phone support during non-office hours 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • An Associate’s degree in technical related field.
  • Possess training and field experience within the material handling business to include plant instrumentation/electrical/controls troubleshooting and repair (2-5 years’ experience) a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
    • Read/interpret electrical control drawings
    • Logically diagnose electrical and/or mechanical problems following the fish bone theory
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • Communicate with individuals under duress in a calm and professional manner
    • Diagnose problems using complex technical terms and concepts, in a logical manner, so that the individual on-site can understand and execute requests via verbal input.
    • Have excellent customer service / interpersonal skills and possess a logical problem-solving mindset.
    • Apply common courtesies at all times.
  • Understanding of industrial computer hardware and commonly used software applications (i.e.MS Office) and operating systems.
  • Individual must be self-motivated, detailed oriented and results focused.
  • Willingness to travel
