Position Summary:
The Clinic Nurse is responsible for rooming and evaluating patients, taking patients' history, vital signs, and performing
and assisting in procedures and medication administration under the supervision of MD, PA, or NP. The clinic nurse will
provide physical and psycho-social support to patients and families and will also provide basic education information to
patients and families as needed. All duties within scope of practice, RN or LPN.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. License and Certifications Required:
LPN or RN with a current ND license in good standing
Current BLS
2. Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited program or institute.
Must be able to speak and understand English
3. Experience Requirements:
Minimum of two years of nursing experience preferred
4. Special Skills or Training:
Positive attitude toward the ill, elderly, and coworkers
Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills
Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations
Basic computer skills
Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure patient safety while performing all duties and responsibilities.
2. Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, pain scores, chief
complaint and other necessary measurements within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
3. Set-up and keep exam rooms neat and orderly.
4. Assist Provider in exam room and as needed.
5. Administer injections of medications per providers' orders and document in EMR per procedure.
6. Document new and refill prescriptions in EMR and call in to drug store if requested as per providers' orders.
7. Maintain minimum inventory level of patient care supplies in exam rooms; obtain needed patient care
supplies/medications from hospital's designated departments.
8. Check for outdated patient care supplies, instruments, procedure trays, and medications, and return to
designated department at the hospital, as per schedule.
9. Date and initial all multi-use vials as per policy and procedure.
10. Consult with the providers as needed regarding patient education; provide patients and their families with
information about availability of community resources; document teaching done in EMR, including family
participation.
11. Make follow up phone calls on post-clinic patients as needed.
12. Perform TB testing and administer Hepatitis B and Influenza vaccines for all new employees.
13. Coordinate scheduling, preparation, instruction, and prior approval of patients for CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds,
echocardiograms, c-rays, EKG stress, EEGs and procedures.
14. Make necessary referrals as requested by the providers.
15. Provide patients with results of tests/procedures done outside and inside the Clinic when requested by the
Provider.
16. Know and comply with Residents' and Patients' Rights rules.
17. Attend and participate in orientation, training, mandatory education, in-services, staff meetings, and education
courses as instructed to further improve knowledge and skills.
18. Maintain Patient Confidentiality and protect Patient Information.
19. Treat Patients, Residents, Visitors and Co-workers with kindness, dignity and respect at all times.
