JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high-quality clinical and administrative support across multiple service areas including front desk operations, nurse station duties, CT and vault support. This role ensures efficient patient flow, maintains accurate records, and supports the healthcare team in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Front Desk Responsibilities
� Greet and check in patients in the appointment scheduler.
� Answer incoming calls professionally, direct to appropriate personnel, and take accurate messages.
� Schedule appointments and make reminder calls for next-day visits.
� Copy and scan driver�s licenses and insurance cards.
� Assist patients in completing required forms (e.g., Epworth Sleep Scale, HIPAA, AUA) and upload into EMR.
� Ensure all documentation is accurately filed in the appropriate EMR sections.
� Update paperwork for follow-up prostate patients as needed.
Nurse Station Responsibilities
� Take vitals and medical history for consults and follow-up visits.
� Perform assessments, fax weekly reports, and complete finger sticks for PET patients.
� Assist with Barrigel procedures as needed.
� Prepare patient packets per RN specifications.
CT Responsibilities
� Prepare patients and explain procedures within scope of knowledge.
� Assist with tattoos and clean CT rooms post-procedure.
� Clean and deflate vac-locs using sani-wipes and maintain a clutter-free workstation.
� Restock supplies and report low inventory.
Vault Responsibilities
� Assist therapists with patient positioning and room preparation.
� Clean and restock changing rooms and escort patients as needed.
� Monitor patients for adverse reactions, report concerns, and assist with cutting electron blocks.
� Escort last patient out, secure center, and restock for the following day.
� Maintain clean and organized vault areas.
Additional Duties
� Maintain professional and compassionate communication with patients and staff.
� Comply with department policies, dress code, and confidentiality standards.
� Provide staff coverage when needed and perform other duties as assigned.
� Wears appropriate uniforms while on duty.
� Keeps up with office schedules, insurance company requirements, and physician preferences.
� Follows organizational policies, protocols, and guidelines.
� Completes assigned duties in an effective, efficient, and timely manner, reporting for work on time, and adhering to policy concerning lunch breaks.
� Makes every effort to keep the office running in a smooth and cost effective manner while cooperating with other office departments.
� Presents a courteous and helpful manner in dealing with patients, staff, and others with whom we do business.
� Follows OSHA, CLIA, and HIPPA regulations and reporting non-compliant or unsafe conditions.
� Stays busy when patient load is low or when clinic is finished, avoiding distraction of other employees when they are working.
� Keeps work station clean, neat, and free of unnecessary clutter.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
� Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
� Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AMAA
� One year of experience in the oncology setting
� Previous experience working in a clinical medical assistant role
� High School Diploma or GED
� Active CPR certification
Preferred:
� Two or more years of experience in a oncology setting
� Bilingual (Spanish-English)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); and ARIA Software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
Landaur Radiation Badges are worn and monitored monthly by our Physics department to ensure position does not receive exceeded bodily radiation dose.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
