Description

SUMMARY

Performs basic repairs and performs routine maintenance on trucks and other vehicles by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Installs or makes basic repairs to A/C, brakes, fuel injectors, engine, electrical systems and  

   components, wheel seals, bearings and race, power divider assembly, drive line  

   replacements, and aux transmission repairs

 

Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes

     adjustments.  Performs DOT inspections to ensure truck is road ready

 

Lubricates moving parts and drives on repaired truck to verify conformance specifications 

 

Performs preventative maintenance activities according to schedule, and road check truck

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

Less than a high school education; or up to one month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS  

ASE Med/Hvy Truck.  CDL. Must maintain insurability for business purpose vehicle operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, when in proximity to running diesel engine or operating air powered tools.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

Florida Drivers License

2 years of experience working on heavy duty trucks and diesel engines

Diagnostic and practical problem- solving skills.

Necessary tools

A neat and organized approach to work and reporting procedures

Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
