      QUALIFICATIONS

     

    A person employed as a school psychologist in a Michigan school is required to hold a valid Michigan School Psychologist Certificate or a Preliminary School Psychologist Certificate.

     

     

     

    Skills & Expectations

     
    • Knowledge of special education rules and regulations  
    • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting

    • Experience working with children ages 0-3 preferred

    • Conduct observations, review data, analyze data, and establish documents for reporting

    • Support the social, emotional, and educational environment for all students

    • Conduct extensive psychological evaluations and re-evaluations for students suspected of, or having, a disability according to MARSE

    • Interpret psychological data with Multi-Disciplinary teams, Individual Education Planning teams, teachers, professionals, and parents

    • Display outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written

    • Independently and accurately implement the requirements of the IDEA & Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education

    • Effectively work on a team, facilitate and lead meetings 

    • Display outstanding evaluation/diagnostic skills particularly in the area of learning, as it relates to 13 eligibility areas

    • Grosse Pointe’s Early On program provides evaluations and services to children ages 0-3 in Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck, Harper Woods and Highland Park. 

    • Early On is a year round program. This position follows a year round calendar.

    • Service for students and their families are provided in their natural environment- home and community settings.
