Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Therapy - Neuromuscular (Tenure Track)
The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year. Salary and rank will correspond to experience and educational credentials.
The DPT Program is part of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences with opportunities for interprofessional experiences with a variety of other health science programs. The program is housed in the Graduate Health Sciences Building with more than 37,000 square feet dedicated to physical therapy instruction, service, and research. The curriculum features an innovative model of instruction that prepares student physical therapists to become generalist practitioners who become leaders in the profession. Clinical practice is promoted among faculty and opportunities exist within the onsite free clinic. The Program received initial accreditation in 2013 and is scheduled for re-review in 2028.
Specific Job Duties:
- Teaching courses in the DPT Program
- Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, supervising student research projects, service to the University and community, and engaging in scholarly activity
- Applying best practices to facilitate teaching and learning processes and principles with a commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Documenting student learning, interpreting outcomes, and recording grades
- Assisting with student recruitment, admission, and retention
- Maintaining accurate and appropriate student, instructor, course, and program documentation
- Establishing and maintaining professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and others in all learning environments
- Participating in University service and events
- Perform other responsibilities that may be assigned by the DPT Program Director and Dean School of Medicine and Health Sciences

Teaching Load: Full-time faculty members are expected to teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
Salary: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods standing or sitting, typical physical demands of a physical therapist in a clinical setting.
