Medical Director – Emergency Medicine

Are you an experienced emergency medicine leader ready to elevate your career? OSU Physicians/CHP at Wilson Health is seeking a Medical Director to oversee clinical excellence and operational performance within the Emergency Department at Wilson Health. This is a unique opportunity to blend hands on clinical practice with meaningful administrative leadership, directly shaping emergency care delivery for the community.

 

Position Overview

As Medical Director, you will collaborate closely with both the Emergency Medicine team and Wilson Health’s administrative leadership. You will serve as the physician leader for OSU Physicians/CHP at Wilson Health, supporting providers, managing medical staff concerns, and ensuring seamless alignment between clinical operations and hospital initiatives.  This role allows you to influence patient care, provider performance, and departmental efficiency while continuing to practice emergency medicine.

  • Board Certified/Eligible Emergency Medicine physician, or
    FP/IM physician with prior Emergency Medicine experience
  • Ohio Medical License (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Leadership or administrative experience preferred

Strategic & Clinical Leadership

  • Lead, support, and mentor Emergency Department physicians and APCs.
  • Serve as the physician representative for the EM service line across clinical and administrative teams.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, trust, and quality patient care.
  • Motivate and develop providers through ongoing feedback, coaching, and collaboration.

Operational & Performance Oversight

  • Drive performance improvement initiatives and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in utilization management, quality improvement, and risk management programs, including those required by third-party payors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and policy standards.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and recruitment to ensure departmental stability.
  • Work directly with Wilson Health administration to strengthen operational alignment and enhance the patient experience.
