Job Title:  Assistant Director of Athletics and Activities
Department:  School Based
Reports To:  Building Administrator
FLSA Status:  Exempt
Work Calendar:  Licensed 210 Days
Salary Scale:  Teacher Salary Scale


 



Job Summary and Purpose




  • The Assistant Athletic Director will assist the Athletic Director to provide direction and coordination of activities and athletics programs at the high school level.





Work Objectives/Essential Functions




  •  Ensures compliance with the rules of the Virginia High School League and the Regional and District councils.

  • Helps to plan, organize, and schedule the athletic programs; supervises and prepares the athletic game fields; oversees game management and coordinates with game officials for all athletic events.

  • Attending County, District, Regional, and State meetings as required promotes positive public relations.

  • Help in securing athletic practice facilities for games and practices; securing transportation for away events through the Transportation Department; orienting coaches in executing their responsibilities.

  • Serves on special committees and attends work sessions involving continued growth and improvement of the total athletic program.

  • Helps supervise coaches and sponsors in their co-curricular activities and clubs; inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies for the safety and well-being of the participants; coordinates fundraising activities as approved by the principal; evaluates the athletic programs.

  • Promotes sportsmanship and equity across all athletic programs and activities, including facilitating pre- and post-season parent meetings to foster open communication and community engagement. Updates social media for the purpose of promoting Athletic programs and activities.

  • Supervises game management operations to ensure safe, organized, and positive experiences for student-athletes, staff, and spectators.

  • Leads sessions focused on leadership development and character development for student-athletes, cultivating a culture of integrity, respect, and excellence.





Education and Experience





























Education Attainment (Required):  Bachelors Degree
Education Attainment (Preferred):  
Relevant Experience (Required):  Experience as a teacher, administrator, athletic director, or equivalent
Relevant Experience (Preferred):  Accompanying coaching experience at the secondary level
Industry Licensure or Certifications (Required): Hold or be eligible for a teaching license issued by Virgnia Department of Education
Industry Licensure or Certifications (Preferred):
