POSITION SUMMARY:
Nursing Assistants
make a significant contribution to the care and welfare of patients in the
rehabilitation setting. Specifically nursing assistants are necessary for the
rehabilitation nurse “to achieve the goal of assisting individuals in the
restoration and maintenance of maximal physical, psychosocial, and spiritual
health” (ARN, 1994 p1.)
Nursing Assistants
function under the direct supervision of licensed personnel and provides basic
patient care services to patients, and assists with self-care activities. His/her major responsibilities are to provide
basic rehab care needs and reinforce the efforts of other rehabilitation
disciplines in the 24-hour activities planned for the patient.
Responsible for
performing secretarial, clerical and receptionist duties and responsibilities
both supportive to and consistent with established administrative, clinical and
personnel policies, procedures, and protocols. Responsible for requisitioning
and maintaining appropriate supplies and equipment, scheduling patient
appointments, and communicating requested services and consultations to
appropriate personnel.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Nurses Aid, Medical Assistant, Multi Skilled Technician
training certificate, evidence of enrollment in Nursing School or other Allied
Health Care Profession or a minimum 4 weeks documented on the job training
3. CPR certification
