The Forklift Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for the inspection, repair and maintenance of forklifts, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and bots, carts, tugs and other wheeled factory equipment. This critical role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, battery and electronic issues. This position will be performing preventative maintenance and major repair in addition to ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of forklifts, ASRS and other vehicles to identify any mechanical or electrical issues. Regularly assess the condition of components such as brakes, tires, hydraulics, engine, and safety systems.
Maintenance and Repair: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and other general servicing. Execute repairs and troubleshoot problems with vehicles, addressing issues like faulty wiring, hydraulic leaks, transmission problems and more.
Preventative Maintenance: Follow maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of the forklift fleet. Adhere to manufacturer guidelines and best practices for preventative maintenance.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities including work orders, inspection reports and parts replacements. Use the equipment records in SAP to track and document tasks.
Safety Compliance: Ensure that all forklifts and equipment meet safety standards and regulations. Regularly inspect safety features like lights, horns and alarms to guarantee safe operation.
Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to forklift operators regarding proper equipment use and basic maintenance practices to enhance safety and efficiency.
Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to breakdowns or malfunctions, especially in critical operational situations, and work efficiently to restore equipment functionality.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with supervisors and management to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction and enhancing equipment performance.
Compliance with Regulations: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and safety guidelines to ensure compliance and safe operations.
Diagnosis: Capable of diagnosing charging and control problems on modern Lithium Ion vehicles and their smart chargers.
Parts and Inventory Management: Monitor inventory of spare parts, components, and materials needed for forklift maintenance. Order and restock supplies as necessary to minimize downtime.
