Hirani Engineering & Land Surveying, D.P.C. is seeking a full-time New Jersey Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support and lead a variety of land surveying projects, with strong involvement in survey data processing, CAD production, quality control, and project coordination.
This role is ideal for a licensed professional who combines technical surveying expertise with hands-on production capability. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and contributing to the preparation of accurate survey deliverables, interpreting complex field and geospatial data, coordinating with internal teams and clients, and helping ensure compliance with applicable industry, legal, and company standards.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in both a professional oversight capacity and a production-oriented role, with direct involvement in CAD drafting, survey data processing, and final deliverable review.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform and oversee complex survey data processing tasks utilizing MicroStation, TopoDot, and AutoCAD for a variety of survey projects, including topographic, boundary, route, as-built, and related surveys
· Interpret and analyze field data, including point clouds, aerial imagery, LiDAR data, survey notes, and digital files, to generate accurate and detailed survey drawings, maps, and related deliverables
· Produce, review, and finalize survey documents and CAD deliverables with a high degree of accuracy, completeness, and technical quality
· Review survey deliverables for compliance with New Jersey requirements, project specifications, and applicable industry standards
· Sign and seal surveys, plats, and related documents, as appropriate
· Collaborate closely with field survey crews, project managers, engineers, and other professionals to ensure efficient and accurate collection, processing, and delivery of survey data
· Interpret and integrate data from a variety of sources to support complete and accurate survey documentation
· Develop and maintain organized digital files and survey records for project use and long-term accessibility
· Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of survey data and final deliverables
· Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards, legal requirements, regulations, and best practices related to land surveying and geospatial data processing
· Assist in resolving boundary issues, survey discrepancies, document conflicts, and technical production challenges
· Provide technical support, training, and guidance to junior team members, promoting continuous learning and professional development
· Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and project scopes for survey assignments
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of survey processes, workflows, and procedures through innovation and adoption of new technologies and methodologies
· Speak and coordinate directly with clients on survey-related matters in a professional and responsive manner
· Respond to clients within the same business day whenever possible and maintain strong communication throughout project execution
· Maintain prompt and professional responsiveness to teammates and supervisors
· Keep Teams, Outlook, and phone readily accessible during working hours to support communication and project coordination
· Notify supervisor or department leadership when additional work capacity is available
· Perform general drafting and other related surveying or production duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Active New Jersey Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in good standing required
· Must be willing and eligible to become registered under Hirani Engineering & Land Surveying, D.P.C., as required
· Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field preferred
· Demonstrated experience in land surveying, survey data processing, and CAD production
· Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, TopoDot, and AutoCAD
· Experience processing and interpreting LiDAR, point cloud, aerial, and conventional field survey data
· Strong knowledge of New Jersey surveying standards, legal requirements, and regulatory expectations
· Experience with boundary analysis, topographic surveys, route surveys, and preparation of survey deliverables
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and quality control
· Effective communication, organizational, and project coordination skills
· Ability to balance professional oversight responsibilities with hands-on production work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in a consulting engineering or land surveying environment
· Familiarity with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction support surveys, and as-built documentation
· Experience mentoring junior staff and reviewing production work
· Ability to assist with project planning, scheduling, and client communication
Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000 annually
