SPS S.T.A.R Student Internship - FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICES ASSOCIATE

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK |
|
Works in a standard school environment. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, extreme heat, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Performs responsible semi-skilled work in preparing and serving institutional meals and cleaning cafeterias; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Cafeteria Manager. To succeed in the role of a student intern, candidates must be willing to positively receive and acknowledge feedback and positive criticism as they work toward developing a skill set specifically geared for the trade of their choice. Students will be reintroduced to the Virginia Department of Education 5 C’s which are critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and citizenship skills. Through the application of these concepts across various career pathways, students will be equipped with the tools needed to successfully transition into the workforce or post-secondary education. All candidates will need to complete the online training before starting the internship. Students may gain entry level high quality work based learning experiences on the following Career Pathways:
