Job Title: CDL Driver (Log Truck Driver)

Location: Project Specific (CA-Based) - Travel Required

Reports to: Truck Boss

Compensation Range: $25.00-$35.00/hr

Other Compensation: Per-Diem and lodging provided

What We Are Looking For



CTL Forest Management is seeking CDL Drivers (Log Truck Drivers) to support logging, forestry, and vegetation management operations.



This role is critical to safe, efficient material transport and field logistics. Drivers must be able to operate safely in rugged environments, transport logs and materials, and maintain strong safety discipline while supporting production and project timelines.







What You Will Do




  • Safely operate log trucks and commercial vehicles to transport logs, materials, and equipment

  • Load, secure, and transport logs in compliance with DOT and company safety standards

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment

  • Ensure proper load securement and weight distribution for safe transport

  • Navigate challenging terrain including forest roads, steep grades, and remote job sites

  • Support loading and unloading operations in coordination with equipment operators and crews

  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and required documentation

  • Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures

  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and report repair needs

  • Work in outdoor environments including post-fire landscapes and active logging operations

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and field crews

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of field operations

Required Qualifications




  • Valid Class A license

  • Experience operating commercial trucks in off-road or rugged environments

  • Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions

  • Strong situational awareness in hazardous environments

  • Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs or more

  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather

  • Ability to work around hazardous terrain and environmental conditions

  • Demonstrated safety and productivity discipline

  • Reliable, punctual, and consistent availability

  • Experience driving longs preferred







Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience in logging or forestry operations

  • Experience operating log trucks, trailers, or heavy haul equipment

  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience working in remote or off-road environments







Physical Requirements




  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance in varying conditions

  • Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Must have vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

  • Must be willing to wear PPE including hard hat, protective eyewear, gloves, and steel-toed boots

  • Ability to work in challenging environments including adverse weather, uneven terrain, and active logging sites

  • Commitment to following safety standards and protocols







Work Environment




  • Regular exposure to moving equipment and outdoor elements

  • Frequent exposure to heat, dust, vibration, and loud noise

  • Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, cold temperatures, or elevated work areas

  • Worksite conditions may include steep slopes, forest roads, post-fire terrain, and remote locations
