Position Summary
Professional, fun, energetic individual with strong communication skills to teach Kids Mt Bike Camps to ages 8-15. Applicants must enjoy working with kids of varying skill levels. Must be able to ride at an advanced level. Comfortable with downhill terrain, jumps, and drops. International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) or Professional Mountain Bike Instructors (PMBI) certification or background working with and organizing groups is a plus, as well as CPR and first aid. Must have a passion for Mt. Biking and the mountain environment. Must be able to work outside in all conditions. Looking for instructors who can work midweek through July and August, and commit to a Monday through Friday, or Monday through Wednesday schedule. Some options for Private lessons any day of the week.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Teach Mt. Biking to all ages.
Responsible for delivering exciting lessons to provide students with a positive and successful learning experience.
Display strong decision-making skills that allow for a safe learning environment.
Skilled in riding advanced downhill terrain, including jumps and drops.
Instructors are responsible for the well-being of their students at all times during the lesson.
Teach mountain bike maintenance and safety inspection to students.
Attend designated trainings to develop personal and professional riding and teaching skills.
Schedule options: Monday through Friday, or Monday through Wednesday. Option for Private lessons any day of the week.
Must be able to remain outside in all weather conditions during lessons.
Job Scope
To Instruct guests in accordance with Mt. Bachelor’s and PMBIA’s guiding principles and training. To maintain a safe and fun learning environment for students of all ages. Our staff is required to be knowledgeable and professional. Our staff must be passionate about the sport and willing to use their knowledge to assist our guests. Instructors must be able to ride and teach at an advanced level. Our team must share a passion for perfecting our service and techniques so we can continue to provide the best experience possible.
Interpersonal Contacts
Applicant must be able to work in a group environment, both within the department and the mountain as a whole. Instructors must have strong guest service and communication skills to develop a working partnership with guests. Take direction and instruction from lead personnel as needed.
Specific Job Skills
Licenses/Certifications: None required. IMBA and/ or PMBI certification is a plus, as well as CPR and first aid.
Technical: Ability to ride advanced downhill terrain, including jumps and drops, and have bike maintenance experience.
Physical Capabilities: Can remain outside in all conditions for long periods of time. Must be physically capable of being on a bike and wear protective equipment for the entire lesson.
Additional: Applicants must own their own riding equipment. This includes a full-faced helmet. elbow and knee pads.
Education/Related Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience: Previous experience or coaching preferred.
