Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Lead sourcing initiatives, including the development and execution of sourcing events; drive selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management.
  • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across business units by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement sourcing strategies.
  • Perform business analysis, evaluate market conditions, and negotiate agreements to support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Coordinate information flow to all key internal business stakeholders and senior management regarding supplier performance.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders as well as strategic relationships with suppliers.
  • Develop negotiation strategies, gain alignment from internal stakeholders, lead cross-functional teams, and implement appropriate supplier risk analysis.
  • Create and defend sourcing strategies and decisions with sound analytics.
  • Evaluate external markets for competitive sources of supply, conduct market research, and use benchmarking data to qualify potential sources.
  • Provide mentoring to team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Assign, delegate, and oversee the successful completion of tasks and projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

 

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, engineering, or business administration.
  • 7 plus years of work experience specifically in the areas of strategic sourcing and category management supporting operations.
  • Manufacturing and Production experience preferred.

 

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing processes and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in developing strategic sourcing strategies for operational categories with emphasis in the Raw Materials and MRO Categories.
  • Knowledge of materials management processes and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others.
  • In-depth experience in preparing and reviewing contracts and negotiating terms.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of delivering value and results.
  • Strong working knowledge in business analysis, market research, financial analysis, and should cost models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and well-organized documents.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time, and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint). 
  • SAP experience is a strong plus.

 

Working Conditions

  • Standard Office Hours are per the supervisor’s discretion.
  • This position requires on-site presence five days per week during the first forty-five (45) days of employment to support onboarding and training.   
  • After the initial forty-five (45) day period, the role typically transitions to a hybrid work schedule. Three (3) days a week in the office are required.
  • Working from home must be seamless and without disruptions. All team members, as well as internal and external customers, should continue to receive excellent customer service without compromise. If any issues impact our ability to deliver that level of service, remote work will no longer be an option, and the employee will be required to work full-time from the office. This includes technical or connectivity issues, among others.
  • The person in this role is also expected to be available to work at the office when needed for special projects, training, or any other work-related requirements.
  • Reports to Texas United Management Corporation's VP Purchasing.
