The County of San Diego has current openings for SENIOR REAL PROPERTY AGENT

Interviews will start the week of June 8th 2026, and JOB OFFERs will be made the week of June 29th 2026.

Future Salary Increases:

** June 2026 – 4.47% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.47% Market Adjustment) 

** June 2027 – 4.97% increase to base pay (3.50% Across-the- Board + 1.47% Market Adjustment)


Senior Real Property Agents perform specialized real property functions that include: carrying out various phases of property and contract management, , acquisition, and property management; directing and training lower level staff; preparing appraisals of properties to be acquired for public purposes; directing negotiations for the sale and/or lease of County property; procuring, negotiating, implementing and administering agreements related to County-owned land; assisting in preparing and administering budgets for revenue-generating activities; conducting site inspections, preparing reports; organizing meetings; and performing and related duties required. Senior Real Property Agent is the lead/supervisory level in the Real Property Agent job class series.


This eligibility list for Senior Real Property Agent will be used to fill current vacancies in the Department of General Services (DGS). This list may also be used to fill future vacancies County-wide.

Hiring Timeline and Date
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job offers and background process begins shortly after interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date. If you are not selected for this interview process, you may have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or certified foreign equivalency in real estate, business, economics, urban planning, or a closely related field; AND,
  1. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in at least two of the following areas: real estate appraisal; acquisition; right-of-way; condemnation; property management; or commercial leasing, OR 
  2. Two (2) years of experience as an Associate Real Property Agent with the County of San Diego.
Note: Additional experience in at least two (2) of the following areas: real estate appraisal, acquisition, right-of-way, condemnation, property management, or commercial leasing may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Conditions of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.


Evaluation

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application questionnaire will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
