The Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Medical Assistant - Certified performs various clinical and clerical duties supporting the medical provider.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs point-of-care skills such as phlebotomy, preparing specimens for transport, and in-clinic lab testing.
- Performs clinical procedures as permitted by certification and as assigned.
- Prepares and administers medications.
- Provides patient/family education.
- Participates in the clinic patient registration and check-out process. Schedules outpatient diagnostic testing after obtaining pre-authorizations and pre-certifications.
- Maintains and communicates accurate provider schedules and patient appointments.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.
- Responds to medication refill requests and EMR workload messages timely, including the medication pre-authorization process.
Education:
Graduate from a Medical Assisting or Practical Nursing program.
Experience:
Previous nursing/clinical experience in a physician's office practice preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Certification in Medical Assisting or valid license from the Kentucky Board of Nursing required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire required.
