Job Summary:




The Department of Hospital Finance at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Decision Support Manager, TH Senior Financial Analyst. 


Key Responsibilities



  • Leadership & Team Management:

    • Supervise and mentor decision support analysts; manage daily operations and project milestones.



  • Data Integration & Reporting:

    • Consolidate clinical and financial data into comprehensive reports for cost accounting, service line profitability, and budget performance.



  • Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Develop case-based budgeting models, utilization projections, and long-range financial plans.



  • Financial & Operational Analysis:

    • Perform cost/revenue analysis, variance explanations, benchmarking, and scenario modeling.



  • Strategic Collaboration:

    • Partner with Finance, Operations, and clinical leadership to support strategic initiatives through data-driven insights.



  • Process Improvement & Tool Development:

    • Enhance reporting processes, dashboards, and analytical tools; lead automation initiatives and system implementations (e.g., Oracle/Med Metrix).



  • Project Management:

    • Oversee decision support projects, set priorities, and provide status updates to stakeholders.








Required Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 3+ years of experience in decision support or related roles, with 1 to 3 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting with familiarity of hospital systems (Epic, cost-accounting, budgeting tools).

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, BI tools (Power BI, SQL, Excel), and cost-accounting applications.

  • Ability to interpret large datasets, present complex analyses to senior leadership, and collaborate across teams.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with a track record of implementing strategic initiatives. 

  • Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training to the above.

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)






Salary Grade/Rank:



SL-4



Salary Range:




Commensurate with experience and qualifications
