JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Radiology is responsible for managing and directing the delivery of all medical imaging and radiological services. Ensures quality services are provided and in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Ensures department operates within budget and in accordance with the organization’s guiding policies and values. Works closely with Radiologists, medical staff, other department managers, patients, public, and Administrator.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Specific:
- Lead and manage all radiology operations within the hospital, including diagnostic imaging, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine services (EF)
- Assume ultimate responsibility for the overall recruitment, hiring, evaluation, performance management, development, competency, scheduling, and retention of qualified staff for the department (EF)
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, Radiologists, Medical Staff, and other department managers to ensure timely and accurate imaging services that support appropriate patient care (EF)
- Responsible for the preparation of the department’s operating and capital budgets and manages the operations of the department within the approved budget (EF)
- Manage the resources (equipment, supplies, space, etc.) necessary to carry out the functions of the department. (EF)
- Drive continuous improvement through data-driven quality assurance programs and patient satisfaction initiatives (EF)
- Apply age-specific needs in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients (EF)
- Develop, review, and revise (as required), comply with, and enforce hospital and department policies and procedures (EF)
- Maintain current knowledge of and apply with applicable regulatory agency guidelines, and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars and workshops, participate in professional affiliations, and reviewing applicable, current literature.
- Participate in hospital committees, hospital-sponsored programs and activities, and civic community activities, as requested.

- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required: Graduate from an accredited program of Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine; Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field; *8 hours of stroke education annually
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: At least 2 years’ experience with management responsibility over a radiology department with demonstrated supervisory capabilities; Must be thoroughly knowledgeable in the general theories and practices of radiological procedures.
Preferred: Previous experience managing multiple imaging modalities in a hospital setting
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required: Strong knowledge of imaging modalities, regulatory compliance, and quality standards; Communication and relationship skills necessary to collaborate with hospital administration, healthcare providers, cross-functional teams, and vendors; ability to empower and develop staff; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; excellent organization skills and attention to detail; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and management skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required:
1.Graduate from an accredited School of Radiology Technology or Nuclear Medicine.
2. Current registration with ARRT – The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or current certification in NMTCB – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
3. Current license with the TMB – Texas Medical Board.
