POSITION TITLE:


Head Custodian (II) Secondary


 


RESPONSIBLE TO:


Maintenance/Environmental Services Supervisor

239-day Employee-At-Will


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


 


Education:



  • High School graduate or GED preferred. 


 


Experience:



  • Five (5) years’ experience of work duties in related field. Prefer one or more years of custodial supervisory experience.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Supervising contracted custodial staff and carrying out assignments directed by the Maintenance/Environmental Services Supervisor or request from school principal in regards to providing a clean and healthy environment in the areas of housekeeping and grounds in the school to which he/she is assigned.


 


 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

  2. Serves as direct supervisor for all building custodians to which you are assigned.

  3. Supervises and participates in the cleaning and scrubbing of floors, walls, halls, bathrooms, offices, and all common areas within the assign location.

  4. Supervises and participates in lifting and moving of equipment, copy paper, furniture and other items as deem necessary.

  5. Demonstrates working knowledge of extracurricular activities that are scheduled in the chosen facility use platform.

  6. Schedules set-up and cleaning around extracurricular activities posted in the chosen facility use platform.

  7. Maintains and ensures cleanup of all athletic facilities on assigned location.

  8. Sets up and breaks down facility use events as listed in the chosen work order platform for the district.

  9. Uses custodial cleaning equipment and chemicals to maintain schools and offices in a working and healthy environment.

  10. Supervises and participates in performing duties as assigned by utilizing an 8’ ladder or smaller.

  11. Supervises and participates in keeping all school grounds clean of paper and debris.

  12. Completes assigned work orders and projects in the chosen work order platform for the district. (Ex. Flowpath)

  13. Performs all environmental services as called upon.

  14. Opens and/or locks the building each day and setting alarm as assigned.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Environmental Services Supervisor or school principal.


  Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:


 



  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions given by others within the district.

  • Ability to perform duties that may require heavy lifting of objects.

  • Demonstrated ability to train other custodians on the use of equipment or proper cleaning procedures.

  • Basic computer skills required for email communication.

  • Subject to fumes from cleaning chemicals in solutions, aerosols and powder forms.

  • Exposure to sharp objects and vibrating equipment.


 


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


 



  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.

  • Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication.

  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.
