Duties

Establish budget requirements, determines staffing and equipment needs, and plans for future needs and developments.,Makes recommendations and decisions on the allocation of space within the Outpatient Medical Records office, to promote an orderly flow of records.,Analyze technical and administrative procedures in connection with the recording and use of medical data.,Coordinate the training and continuing education activities of outpatient medical records staff members by determining training needs.,Maintain an efficient medical record system which includes procedures for initiation of records.,Direct installation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure achievement of objectives of long- and short-term programs.,Develop systematic procedures for occasional and special reports.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the medical records programs for both inpatient and outpatient records; analyzing, auditing, coding, and reviewing medical data and records to ensure compliance; and preparing reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
