About the Role:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients. This position involves accurately preparing and labeling prescriptions, managing inventory, and maintaining patient records in compliance with regulatory standards. The Pharmacy Technician serves as a key point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service and assisting with medication-related inquiries under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors and ensure patient safety. Ultimately, the Pharmacy Technician contributes to the overall healthcare delivery by facilitating timely access to medications and supporting pharmacy operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) as required by the state.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication names.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
- Strong understanding of insurance billing and reimbursement processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Additional certifications or continuing education in pharmacy-related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Verify prescription information and patient data to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Maintain patient records and pharmacy documentation in accordance with privacy laws and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering patient questions and directing complex inquiries to the pharmacist.
- Operate pharmacy software systems to process prescriptions and manage workflow.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations and safety standards.
