Job Description

HealthPartners is hiring a Senior IT Business Analyst – Online Scheduling. The Senior IT Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in connecting business needs with high‑quality, reliable technology solutions. This individual ensures applications in development are thoroughly system-tested and performs user acceptance testing to support smooth, effective deployments. By translating business needs into clear technical requirements and interpreting shifting priorities, the analyst helps drive IT work efforts that deliver real value to business partners.

In this role, the analyst works closely with multiple IT teams to coordinate and prioritize work, ensure the right approvals and documentation are in place for changes, and keep business leaders informed about system availability and data reliability. The role depends on strong teamwork, organization, and clear communication. Key partners include Clinic Operations and Patient Access teams.

This role is especially impactful in advancing our digital online scheduling experience, playing a direct role in improving access, convenience, and the overall patient experience. The Senior IT Business Analyst will lead technical analysis, requirements definition, stakeholder alignment, and end‑to‑end delivery of new features that improve how patients access care. The position supports high‑visibility Access & Scheduling initiatives such as seven‑day access, next available appointment, and ongoing scheduling optimization, while also contributing to broader Care Group priorities. 

The Senior IT Business Analyst reports to the Supervisor, Digital Product Management, and joins a collaborative team of three analysts focused on delivering meaningful, patient‑centered digital solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or six (6) years of IT experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT product management and IT incident resolution
  • One (1) year of experience in small- to medium-sized project management/leadership
  • Experience with databases, programming languages, and/or end-user software in a complex networked environment
  • Effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and constituents.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical topics
  • Effective at analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Ability to read technical documentation.
  • Arbitration and negotiation skills
  • Able to manage a high degree of change.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience working with current healthcare software and/or hardware technologies. 
  • Experience with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems strongly preferred. 
  • Three (3) years of experience breaking down initiatives into Epics and user stories. 
  • Experience working on cross‑functional Agile teams. 
  • Exposure to customer‑facing web applications. 
  • Comfortable partnering with backend engineers, including defining and documenting API requirements. 
  • Experience with process and data mapping

Hours/Location:

  • M-F; core business hours
  • This position may be largely remote; however, we prefer local candidates who can be onsite at our Bloomington corporate office on a regular basis each Thursday.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops technical specifications; consulting on technical design to align with business needs.
  • Analyzes and interprets IT’s business partner needs into functional requirements.
  • Reviews application problems, creating and documenting functional and technical specifications for the solutions.
  • Serves as a liaison between business partners and application development team members to analyze, document and validate functional requirements.
  • Leads internal projects to support and/or improve business processes.
  • Designs screens, reports, and dataflow to align with business needs.
  • Documents business priorities for IT service changes; triaging and overseeing actions, changes to priorities, and issues regarding those requests for the application development staff.
  • Provides workflow to the IS&T group's development staff; tracking work progress, issues, and consulting with the developer to ensure understanding of business processes and need.
  • Tracks, maintains, and retains documentation that supports the adherence to IS&T standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Provides analysis and ensures that business partners understand the value of process, policy, and/or procedural changes for IS&T.
  • Ensures that code development adheres to Service Management and IS&T policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provides training, documentation, and support for IS&Ts business partners for system changes and/or new developments.
  • Documents data flows through applications; demonstrating system functionality.
  • Assists in test planning and execution for mid-sized to large system changes.
  • Coordinates and enables testing within the same test environment, running programs and producing reports to aid business testing.
  • Provides second level support for requests and incidents.
  • Research issues using business expertise to determine cause and expected outcome, providing documentation to the development group.
