JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for auditing production and sanitation practices and procedures throughout the plant, examining packaging, and monitoring operating practices and plant facilities to ensure compliance with company and USDA standards.   Perform product checks to ensure specifications are met and issue assigned reports. Resolve any issues of non-compliance with the appropriate parties in a professional manner.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

An essential job duty of this position is regularly reporting to work on time and being able to perform the essential duties of the position.

  • Check finished products and/or incoming materials against standard specifications on assigned products and issue all assigned reports in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner, notifying appropriate personnel of issues if necessary.

 

  • Place and release QA holds accurately and professionally.

 

  • Conduct daily audits of the areas and working habits of production employees and alert supervisors to any deviations from the JDF standard sanitation operation procedures.

 

  • Collect assigned chemical, microbiological, water, and/or environmental samples in accordance with the Company schedules/sampling programs and complete all associated documentation.

 

  •   Manage and maintain any assigned programs (such as instrument calibration, spice, supplier reporting, NCR, pest control, etc.) to ensure full compliance with government regulations and production capabilities and/or requirements.   

 

  • Monitor workforce for compliance with standard sanitation procedures.  

 

  • Maintain accurate working knowledge of all positions for backup as needed.  

 

  • Flexible hours with weekend work.

 

  • Minimal travel with some overnight stay.

 

  • Accept special projects and complete them timely.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field, and/or equivalent experience. 

Experience or Training: Excellent written and oral skills    Detail oriented with the ability to work independently as well as with a group.

Technology/Equipment: Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
