About the role

AZ Drivers transport hazardous and non hazardous waste between Reworld facilities and client sites. Drivers operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, trailers, and roll off trailers. AZ Drivers must maintain a clean driving record and operate all commercial vehicles in compliance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, National Safety Code (NSC), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations, and any applicable U.S. requirements for cross border work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and in compliance with Ontario commercial transport regulations, NSC standards, and company policies.
  • Operate tractors, vacuum units, tankers, and trailers for extended periods.
  • Complete overnight stays in a sleeper cab or hotel when required.
  • Work independently, including in remote or isolated locations.
  • Transport hazardous and non hazardous waste materials in compliance with TDG requirements.
  • Ensure all TDG placarding, labels, and documentation are accurate before transport.
  • Complete all required paperwork including manifests, electronic logs, timesheets, inspection reports, expense sheets, and job specific documentation.
  • Perform pre trip, en route, and post trip inspections in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and NSC Standard 13.
  • Secure cargo and ensure compliance with provincial cargo securement standards.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, site personnel, and operations.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned to support operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Class AZ licence or Class 1 equivalent.
  • Valid Z endorsement.
  • MELT training completed and current.
  • TDG Training Certificate required to transport hazardous materials.
  • Tanker experience strongly preferred.
  • Clean Commercial Abstract (CVOR and driver’s abstract).
  • Ability to use tablets and electronic logging devices.
  • Experience with hazardous waste handling, vacuum units, or lab pack work is an asset.
  • Strong safety record and demonstrated compliance with transportation regulations.
  • Willingness to perform cross border travel into the United States as required and must meet admissibility standards.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, access elevated platforms, and work around tanks or hoses.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, twist, and work in confined or tight spaces during inspections or hose connections.
  • Ability to sit for long periods while operating commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Ability to handle hoses, fittings, tools, and equipment associated with tanker and vacuum operations.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including respirators, gloves, coveralls, hard hats, and safety footwear.

 Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future. 

 

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $60,200.00 - $80,000.00 CAD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
