Schedule: 260 days per year (September-August); 8 hours a day; M-F
Salary: $120,599 - $143,267 annually, depending on experience
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:
The Financial Services Manager reports to and assists the Executive Director of Financial Services by providing specialized fiscal guidance. Responsibilities include general accounting, projecting and monitoring budgets, financial reporting, working directly with administrators and schools/departments on budget and finance issues, and supervising financial services staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis on finance, accounting, or related analytical field. Relevant experience may be substituted for the educational requiremen.
- At least two years of accounting and/or budgeting experience allowing for the development of accounting practices and procedures, skills in budgeting and projecting costs, and the ability to detect errors and verify data
- Experience working in a finance department in a public education system (preferred, not required)
- Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background Check
- Ability to effectively and efficiently perform work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands through organization, attention to detail, and prioritization
- Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations
- Proficient skills in technology including the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel and the ability to learn new technology

Essential Functions:
- Provides day-to-day leadership and supervision to Financial Services staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and supporting professional growth
- Establishes clear expectations, workflows, and accountability systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all financial operations
- Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial procedures and internal controls
- Partners with building and district administrators to support strategic budget development, resource allocation, and long-term financial planning
- Serves as a key advisor to the Executive Director of Financial Services, providing recommendations based on data analysis, trends, and organizational needs
- Facilitates cross-department collaboration to ensure alignment between financial services, payroll, HR, and school operations
- Leads training and capacity-building efforts for administrators and staff to strengthen financial literacy and compliance across the district
- Identifies operational challenges and leads problem-solving efforts to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery
- Supports change management efforts related to financial systems, processes, or regulatory requirements
- Ensures a positive, collaborative team environment that reflects district values and promotes high levels of service and professionalism
- Monitors staff workload and adjusts assignments as needed to meet deadlines and organizational priorities
- Models professional standards, ethical conduct, and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Maintains district financial and accounting procedures, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Works with payroll, purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash receipting, financial reporting, and other duties related to the financial services operations
- Provides training to department and district staff to support appropriate financial practices and procedures (methods of coding, cost estimating, interpreting budget reports and procedures)
- Audits A/P, A/R, and payroll records for completeness and accuracy
- Assists in the preparation of the district's annual budget and budget extension documents
- Assists in the preparation of the district's year end reports (F196, Notes to the Financial Statements, and SEFA)
- Reviews monthly reconciliation of all activities with the County Treasurer
- Maintains the district chart of accounts
- Manages bid documents, credit card activity, and various invoicing
- Monitors and claims all grants, including revenues, expenditures, accounting codes and financial reporting requirements
- Serves as district liaison to external auditors and risk management pool
- Assists other departments in fiscal matters (time and effort, billing, excess cost, recovery, etc.)
- Assists in monitoring internal controls, establishing or adjusting processes, and verifying state and federal compliance
- Develops and maintains positive, professional relationships with vendors, other staff, the community, and administrators.
- Supports the design, implementation, and oversight of the efficiencies and effectiveness of system operations in the Financial Services Department
- Continues to develop interpersonal and technical skills through professional development and reflection
- Attends meetings and trainings as appropriate or directed
- Other duties as assigned.
