Description

The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) is responsible for managing and optimizing the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and related Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications. This role focuses on ensuring that RPMS functions effectively, providing ongoing training to staff, and supporting users with technical issues. The CAC also manages system updates, coordinates user access, and ensures smooth integration with other clinical applications. The primary focus is on ensuring the best possible usage of RPMS through training and support.

 

Key Responsibilities

RPMS Administration and Technical Support

·         Manage the day-to-day operations of the clinical software systems, including the EHR and related tools.

  • User Management: Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts within RPMS, assigning appropriate roles, permissions, and keys to ensure proper access control.
  • IHS Systems: Administer the IHS Direct Messaging System, ensuring secure communication between healthcare providers, including setting up new users and managing permissions. Serves as the site administrator for the IHS PHR system, responsible for managing user access, ensuring compliance with IHS protocols.
  • System Support: Provide troubleshooting and technical support for issues within RPMS and its integration with other clinical applications, such as Vista Imaging, iCare, and BPRM.

Training and Staff Development

  • Training on System Updates: Keep staff informed of new updates and features in RPMS and train appropriately.
  • Training Development and Delivery: Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs for staff using RPMS, EHR templates, and other clinical applications. Tailor training to different user levels and ensure clear, accessible instruction.
  • Ongoing Education and Support: Conduct follow-up training and provide support to ensure staff are fully utilizing RPMS to their highest potential. Offer refresher courses as needed.

System Updates and Communication

  • Patch Management: Receive notifications of server patches from the area office, review the updates, and decipher the technical details to ensure they are communicated to staff effectively. Organize training sessions when necessary to ensure that staff are prepared for changes and understand how updates will impact their workflows.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor the system post-update to ensure stability and address any issues that may arise.

Optimization of System Use

  • Maximizing RPMS Efficiency: Work with staff to identify areas where RPMS can be more effectively used. Provide training and best practices to help users leverage the system to improve clinical workflows and patient care.
  • Reporting and Analytics Support: Assist in generating reports and using RPMS data to support clinical decision-making and operations.

Requirements

·         Previous experience as a CAC required.

·         Computer Programming: Proficient in programming and maintaining applications within the RPMS framework using the MUMPS language to support healthcare operations and data management.

  • In-Depth Knowledge of RPMS and EHR: Strong understanding of RPMS and related clinical software applications such as iCare, Vista Imaging, HealthWave and BPRM.
  • Training Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective training programs for diverse audiences, ensuring that complex technical information is conveyed in an understandable manner.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure clear, concise, and accessible communication to non-technical users regarding system updates, patches, and new features.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions to clinic operations.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training sessions, system updates, and user support requests simultaneously.
