SSVF Service Coordinator – Full-Time

As an SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) Service Coordinator, you will play a key role in promoting housing stability, connecting participants to vital services, and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives in the Calhoun County.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide case management services to veterans and their families.
  • Assist participants in accessing supportive services, benefits, and community resources.
  • Screen applicants and determine eligibility for the SSVF program.
  • Conduct needs assessments and creates housing stability plans.
  • Manage an active caseload while building strong, supportive relationships.
  • Evaluate participant progress and coordinate with internal team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in program databases.
  • Conduct community and street outreach to homeless veterans.
  • Develop relationships with landlords and property managers.
  • Represent VOAMI at community meetings and presentations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Represent VOAMI professionally at community events.
  • Follow all VOAMI policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Refer participants to SSVF-funded legal services when needed.
  • Must maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel
  • Must have a driving record that is acceptable to VOAMI’s insurer Complete assigned trainings on time.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field
    OR 3+ years’ experience with veterans or vulnerable populations.
  • Military service or training may substitute for education.
  • Strong ability to build rapport with clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations and varying levels of stability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
  • Basic understanding of mental health disorders.
  • Availability to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with staff and the public.
  • May encounter interruptions and individuals experiencing emotional distress.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and driving required.
  • Close and distance vision necessary.
