Job Summary:
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Supervisor / TH Associate Technical Director of Clinical Laboratory, Microbiology & Molecular Pathology. The successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership to Virology, Serology, and Molecular Laboratory functions.
- Prepare and implement budget for the Virology and Molecular Pathology Laboratory.
- Review staffing needs and prepare work schedules.
- Work closely with the Director and Hospital Infection Control Department to identify infectious disease outbreaks and to institute monitoring procedures.
- Update LIS database as new revisions are implemented.
- Review, update laboratory policy, and procedure manuals as necessary.
- Ensure prompt and accurate performance and reporting of laboratory test results by laboratory staff.
- Oversee the technical operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
- Implement procedures and manage data in accordance with Performance Improvement goals.
- Provide recommendations for improving products and services.
- Ensure Laboratory compliance with Regulatory requirements.
- Prepare administrative reports.
- Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related duties and responsibilities as business needs warrant and/or as needed.
- Provide for the Quality Management system.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical, or Biological Sciences.
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of supervisory experience in Virology, Serology, Molecular Laboratory.
- Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Physical, or Biological Sciences.
- ASCP Certification.
