POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Data Management (PDM) Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for engineering data integrity, configuration control, and release governance. This role is responsible for leading the execution of structured PDM workflows, managing complex multi-level BOM architectures, and overseeing the formal engineering change process (ECR/ECO/ECN). While primarily focused on lifecycle management and data standards, the PDM Engineer must possess a deep-rooted background in mechanical engineering principles to ensure that CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications are robust, manufacturable, and accurately represented within the PDM environment. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the PDM Engineer bridges the gap between design intent and downstream execution, ensuring that all engineering deliverables meet the rigorous standards required for manufacturing, supply chain, and ERP integration.

- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for CAD data structure, model integrity, and drawing standards within the PDM system.
- Execute and support configuration control and workflow processes within the established PDM environment.
- Own the execution of Engineering Change processes (ECR/ECO/ECN) from technical evaluation through implementation in coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are safe, robust, and efficient.
- Oversee complex mechanical design releases, including large assemblies, configurable systems, and multi-level BOM structures.
- Audit and improve drawing quality, metadata accuracy, and revision discipline within Vault.
- Ensure released engineering data reflects applicable specifications technical requirements.
- Manage bill of materials (BOMs) and revisions of component/system drawings and specifications in accordance with established company standards.
- Support external system integrations by validating BOM accuracy, item attributes, and released data structure prior to handoff.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of PDM standards and best practices encompassing, for example, part numbering conventions, file metadata, CAD modeling, and internal Vault organization.
- Act as technical reviewer, when necessary, for outsourced CAD models and drawings.
- Aid in the development of mechanical assemblies and systems that ensure robust modeling practices and release integrity.
- Support troubleshooting of CAD/PDM performance, file structuring, and workflow issues in collaboration with IT and PDM leadership.
- Support legacy data cleanup and structured migration activities within PDM.
- Communicate with internal teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Field Service and Suppliers.
- Assess requirements and technical challenges, provide estimates and updates on all assigned tasks to Project Management and supervisor, and conduct risk assessments.
- Ensure configuration control compliance between engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Define or assist in definition of mechanical system and component specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with business operations and business continuity.
