Job Title: General Counsel (Full Time ) – Onyx Odds

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Counsel to lead our risk and compliance functions. This role will serve as a key advisor alongside executive leadership and play a critical role in navigating the complex and evolving regulatory landscape of sports prediction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee legal, regulatory, risk, and compliance matters across jurisdictions

  • Advise executive leadership on legal risks, business strategy, trading surveillance, and corporate governance

  • Lead licensing efforts and maintain relationships with gaming regulators

  • Develop and implement compliance programs, including responsible gaming initiatives

  • Manage litigation, disputes, and outside counsel relationships

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (partnerships, vendors, sponsorships, etc.)

  • Ensure adherence to data privacy, advertising, and consumer protection laws

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in sports prediction and gaming

  • Build and manage an internal legal and compliance team as the company grows

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active bar membership in good standing

  • Strong knowledge of gaming, sports prediction, or highly regulated sectors (e.g., fintech)

  • 10+ years of legal experience, with significant time in-house or advising regulated industries

  • Experience working with state and/or national regulatory bodies

  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience as General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel

  • Direct experience with sports prediction, online gaming, or iGaming platforms

  • Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional compliance frameworks

Location

We are based in NoHo in New York City. The team member can work in-person or hybrid.

Compensation

200k-500k + meaningful equity
