Job Summary
The Public Works Supervisor oversees daily field operations supporting grounds maintenance, land management, fire prevention, firewood cutting, and light facilities work. This position coordinates crew activities, ensures safe and efficient work practices, maintains equipment readiness, and supports completion of field projects. The Supervisor works alongside crew members when needed and serves as the primary on-site lead to ensure Tribal properties and infrastructure are maintained to operational standards.
Essential Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily work assignments for Public Works Technicians.
- Monitor field operations to ensure safe work practices and compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee landscaping, vegetation clearing, fire prevention work, and firewood cutting activities.
- Provide hands-on direction and training to crew members on tools, equipment, and procedures.
- Inspect work sites to identify hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance needs.
- Coordinate material movement, site setup, and project staging.
- Operate and assist in servicing tools, vehicles, and equipment as needed.
- Track work progress and communicate operational updates to the Public Works Director.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment storage and work areas.
- Address minor field issues and escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Perform field work alongside crew members when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of documented experience performing outdoor manual labor, landscaping, facilities maintenance, land clearing, or similar field work.
- Documented experience leading or coordinating work crews in a field or labor environment.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in varying weather conditions.
- Prior experience operating common hand tools and outdoor equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation and alcohol/drug screening in accordance with organizational policy.
- First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising grounds or facilities crews.
- Familiarity with equipment servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Experience working in safety-sensitive outdoor environments.

PRCI Tribal Preference:
In accordance with applicable Tribal law and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) Administration provides employment preference to enrolled PRCI Tribal Members. To qualify, applicants must submit valid proof of enrollment. Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications will be given preference in hiring, promotion, transfer, and layoff decisions. During the interview process, PRCI Tribal Members will receive an additional 7.5 points (10% of the 75-point interview rubric). Non-PRCI Native American candidates will receive an additional 5 points (6.7% of the total points) in accordance with Indian Preference guidelines.
