JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Technical Trainer: Safety
RESPONSIBLE TO: Industrial Coordinator for Safety; (Director for Business & Industry and ACD)
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: OSHA 501 (OSHA 500 and Arc Flash preferred)
EXPERIENCE: Degree in Safety or 10 years of experience as a Safety Trainer in an industrial or construction setting.
CERTIFICATION: Various State and National Safety Certifications to be completed according to state and local requirements
PERSONNEL
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Certified Personnel � 12 months (ST12 salary schedule); Non-Exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Safety training district wide for business and industry facilities and other locations as assigned in the ICTC service area.
SECONDARY FUNCTION: Safety training district wide for bus drivers, campus programs, or other divisions as assigned by Industrial Coordinator for Safety (or BIS/ACD Director)
SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to interact with the local owners, CEO's, and managers of small to large businesses
Demonstrated ability to work with firms to teach workshops, safety training and seminars
Delivery of safety services or help companies locate safety products from vendors and suppliers as needed before or following safety training
Ability to develop and implement safety curriculum.
Demonstrated ability to learn rapidly and in depth and the ability to communicate clearly both written and oral
Must have excellent presentation skills.
DEPENDABILITY: Regular attendance following designated work schedule
Ability to work different shifts as the position requires (may require early morning, evening and weekends from time to time to meet the needs of Business and Industry where training is performed)
PHYSICAL/MENTAL
STANDARDS: Ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate varied documents
Ability to stand for long periods of time and to move around the office area
Requires stooping, bending, and carrying of such articles as books, manuals, files, and job relate items
Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to a four foot level
Multi-tasking skills will be required
EMOTIONAL EFFORT: Moderate
Frequent deadlines sometimes requiring concentrated effort and overtime work
Must be self-starter
Must have ability to prioritize time, assignments, and project while handling a high volume of customer service and needs
Able to handle stressful situations at peak periods
Frequent work during late afternoon and evenings (flexing work schedule as needed)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
MAJOR DUTIES: Primary focus of position will be the duties and responsibilities related to safety training for the business and Industry within the ICTC service area. These responsibilities, will include but are not limited to:
Teach designed curriculum for all safety related classes.
Teach safety awareness (training based) on Business and Industry needs (including any assigned or developed by safety coordinator or BIS Director).
Teach (if certified) all specialized safety training for plant safety training.
Teach CPR/First Aid classes as needed.
Schedule and perform respirator fit testing as needed.
Conduct hearing tests with Career Tech Hearing Test Trailer out of Indian Capital Technology Center as needed.
Assist with recordkeeping and tracking of all safety training conducted.
Create outline for all courses as required by Career Tech
Perform annual self-audits for all safety related training
Assist district businesses/industries to identify projects that will help them to become a safer working environment
Assist the Industrial Coordinator for Safety on develop safety plans for business/industry in the service area
Assist the Industrial Coordinator for Safety with the implementation of safety plans for business/industry in the service area
Assist with internal safety training as needed (to include but not limited to bus driver safety and program needs)
Participate as a member of the district safety committee
Attendance/participation in safety training to increase credentials to be able to provide safety training in other areas.
Exceed minimum performance standards as established.
Work to achieve performance goals (Levels of Excellence) as established.
Maintain records and assist with reports as required by the local technology district and the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech
It is expected for employee to be on time each workday as this is essential to the employee's job
