Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving seniors, families, and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Social Worker to join our Families First Program in Sault Ste Marie.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the Families First model of service using a strength-based, non-deficit approach.
- Provide concrete services including housing support, transportation assistance, and home cleaning, maintenance and repair.
- Deliver skills training related to parenting, communication, self-advocacy and self-sufficiency.
- Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention to support family stability.
- Coordinate with external providers for counseling, medical care, education, housing, utilities and other community resources.
- Complete timely documentation including service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, weekly plans and time reports.
- Present cases for termination conferences and recommend appropriate follow-up services.
- Maintain required face-to-face contact with families based on contract standards and individual needs.
- Maintain weekly contact with referring workers and complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6 and 12 months post-service.
- Transport clients using a personal vehicle as needed.
- Maintain 24-hour availability and a flexible work schedule based on family needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field required.
- Valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration and auto insurance required.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Reliable, compassionate and committed to providing high-quality services.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
Schedule and Compensation
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Schedule: Flexible with 24-hour availability as needed
- Hybrid-Remote: Home-based with travel throughout the service area
- In-Office Requirements: Weekly team meetings, trainings and clinical supervision
- Salary: $43,000 per year based on experience
- Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
