Job Description Summary:

The Supply Chain Planning Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing integrated supply and production planning systems across three North American manufacturing sites (Endicott, NY; Mesa, AZ; Nogales, MX). This role combines advanced production planning, capacity modeling, ERP/MRP system ownership, and data analytics to ensure alignment between customer demand, manufacturing capability, and inventory strategy.

 

The position serves as the technical leader for supply chain planning processes, driving data-driven decision-making, scenario modeling, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance, service levels, and working capital efficiency.

Duties/Responsibilities :

 

Integrated Production & Supply Planning

  • Design and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) framework to support demand fulfillment, inventory targets, and capacity constraints.
  • Translate sales forecasts, customer orders, and historical demand data into optimized production plans using structured planning methodologies.
  • Balance demand and supply across multiple manufacturing sites through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead planning alignment efforts with procurement, operations, engineering, and commercial teams.

 

Capacity Engineering & Scenario Modeling

  • Develop and maintain capacity models by product line, work center, and site.
  • Perform what-if simulations to evaluate the impact of demand shifts, material shortages, labor changes, equipment constraints, and new business opportunities.
  • Provide analytical recommendations on labor planning, equipment utilization, overtime strategies, and capital investments.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) through structured capacity and readiness assessments.

 

Planning Systems & ERP Optimization

  • Serve as the technical owner of planning functionality within ERP/MRP systems (Macola preferred).
  • Improve system parameters including lead times, safety stock, lot sizing, and planning policies.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within planning workflows.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives including advanced analytics, dashboarding, and planning tool enhancements.

 

Data Analytics & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage key supply chain KPIs including:
    • Schedule adherence
    • On-time delivery
    • Inventory turns
    • Capacity utilization
  • Perform root cause analysis on service or schedule misses and drive corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Provide actionable insights to plant leadership and executive stakeholders.

 

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Standardize planning processes across sites to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, forecast alignment, and inventory optimization.
  • Establish planning governance standards, documentation, and training materials.
  • Mentor planners and schedulers in best practices and system usage.

 

Qualifications - Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, capacity engineering, or supply chain analytics within a manufacturing environment (electrical or electromechanical components preferred).
  • APICS/CPIM certification strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Macola experience preferred).
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Power BI or similar BI tools preferred.
  • Working knowledge of capacity planning methodologies and manufacturing flow principles.
  • Experience with data modeling, scenario simulation, and supply-demand balancing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
