Inside Sales Engineer – Technical Sales & Customer Support

Company: Align Production Systems

Location: Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis Metro) – On-Site

Compensation: $55K - $65K base salary (salary range based on fit and qualifications) + bonus potential based on team and individual performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Inside Sales Engineer, you’ll serve as a key liaison between customers, engineering, marketing, and operations. Your role blends technical aptitude with commercial focus, ensuring customers receive timely proposals, world-class service, and proactive communication.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Customer Engagement - Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers; understand their business needs and project timelines.
  • Sales Execution - Qualify inbound leads, draft and follow up on proposals, and manage the entire sales process in our CRM (HubSpot).
  • Technical Collaboration - Work closely with engineering and estimation to develop accurate, compelling proposals and technical documentation.
  • Marketing Partnership - Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, trade shows, and lead generation. Help craft and refine sales collateral.
  • Order & Data Management - Oversee order processing workflows and sales data reporting; track KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Process Optimization - Streamline communication between sales, service, and production teams to improve customer experience and response time.
  • Event Participation – Specified travel of approx. 30% is required to represent Align at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives at the intersection of sales, engineering, and customer service.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field – or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years in inside sales, customer service, or sales coordination (preferably in commercial, industrial, or technical markets).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to read drawings and understand mechanical systems. (CapEx experience a plus)
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred but not required).
