General Function: 



The Dementia Day Program Coordinator plans and implements 5-hour/day programs at VOA locations for adults with early-stage dementia. Named Old Friends Club, the program is an affiliate of a regional network of dementia day programs in the Puget Sound. 



Principal Activities: 




  • Meet with prospective participants and their caregivers; assess for appropriateness in the program; and manage registration and payment.

  • Supervise the Dementia Day Program Assistant by training/coaching and evaluating performance.

  • Co-plan daily schedule and activities with Program Assistant

  • Coordinate daily lunch with site staff (purchasing/prep as needed)

  • Address any participant needs, concerns and status changes with caregivers.

  • Recruit, train, oversee and track volunteers in accordance with VOA’s volunteer processes. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe program space daily. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

This role ensures the delivery of a high-quality, well-coordinated program that provides meaningful engagement and social connection for adults with early-stage dementia. Through effective participant assessment, staff and volunteer oversight, and proactive caregiver communication, the Program Coordinator maintains a safe, responsive, and person-centered environment. The result is consistent program excellence that enhances participant well-being while providing reliable respite and peace of mind for caregivers.
