Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports core accounting operations with a focus on maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the monthly close process. This role is responsible for general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting. The position works closely with other members of the accounting team to ensure financial data is complete, compliant, and audit‑ready.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post journal entries, maintain balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Reconciliations: Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the monthly preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Compliance and Process Improvement: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls while identifying opportunities for process enhancements.
- Expense Management: Review and process expenses, ensure proper allocation, and identify areas for cost savings.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP)
- Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Knowledge and experience with GAAP, sales tax, acquisitions, intercompany transactions, or full‑cycle inventory accounting; 1–2 years of public accounting experience
