This part-time, non-exempt position supports golf practices and programs year-round, including winter, spring, summer, and fall sessions.

Coaches work directly with children and youth groups, creating a positive and engaging learning environment where participants build fundamental golf skills, teamwork, responsibility, and strong character traits. As a representative of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation, coaches are expected to uphold the organization’s values while ensuring an inclusive, fun, and enriching experience for all participants.

This position requires a flexible schedule, with availability for multiple shifts per session, including evenings and weekends. Assignments are based on geographic areas and may require travel to various program sites within the designated region.

This position is assigned to work at: Fairmount Park Golf Course, 2681 Dexter Dr., Riverside, CA 92501

The hourly pay ranges from $18.75 – $23.75 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do:
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the sport of golf and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation, fostering enthusiasm and sportsmanship among all participants.
  • Engage with the Program Manager and management team as needed for training, lesson planning, and program development.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for youth players, demonstrating leadership, integrity, and a commitment to their growth both on and off the course.
  • Create a supportive and structured learning environment by using positive reinforcement and coaching in an organized, safe, and effective manner.

  • Successfully complete all required training and certifications within the designated timeframe.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of the program.

What You'll Need:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience as a coach, instructor, tutor, or mentor is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the game of golf, including the ability to use a golf club and demonstrate basic golf skills while effectively teaching lessons.
  • Passion for working with youth and engaging with children of all ages in a community setting.
  • Willingness to learn and follow a structured practice curriculum.
  • Strong customer service mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outgoing and comfortable speaking in front of small groups.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including bending and stooping as needed.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs with minimal assistance.

Scheduling Considerations

The primary shifts for this role occur during each of our 8-week sessions – one session in winter, one in spring, one in summer and one in the fall. During the weeks between sessions (which can vary from 2 – 5 weeks), limited working hours may be available. Because of this programming schedule, this position requires a flexible schedule, with availability for multiple shifts per session, including evenings and weekends. Assignments are based on geographic areas and may require travel to various program sites within the designated region.
