The Preschool Disabilities teacher will be responsible for providing instruction to students ages 3-5 with special needs including intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and multiple disabilities. The teacher will implement best practice strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual instructional needs as well as ABA teaching strategies and center teaching; provide accommodations and modifications to curriculum and materials to meet students' needs; communicate effectively with team members and parents; follow through on behavioral strategies and interventions that are driven by the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP); and perform other responsibilities as assigned. The position also requires the teacher to oversee and provide support to Educational Support Professionals assigned to the classroom or individual students.
Candidates must hold proper New Jersey certification to teach both Special Education and Preschool students.
