ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED: 


Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.


 


$17.00 - $18.00 per hour


 


Available shifts and locations:


Various locations throughout the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts 


 


These positions are for the Rockwood and Parkway School Districts. Ability to plan/implement developmentally appropriate activities; ability to supervise staff; ability to assume responsibility and respect confidentiality. Two years of experience working in a similar setting with children.


 


POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Community Ed team, the Adventure Club Assistant Facilitator provides support in operation of the Adventure Club school-age care program to ensure the program furthers the mission of Community Ed in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Assist the site Facilitator with developing a safe and caring environment for the Adventure Club school-age care program.

  2. Manage site operations as needed, including supervision of staff and attendance of all children.

  3. Responsible for supervision of children and the implementation of the everyday activities of the Adventure Club school-age care program.

  4. Provide up to 1:1 assistance to meet the needs of individual children.

  5. Follows established guidelines to ensure safety and accountability.

  6. Assist site Facilitator with staff timekeeping records as needed.

  7. Assist with directing essential program drills as required.

  8. Ensures that parents and families are greeted daily and appropriate information is communicated.

  9. Obtain yearly in-service by attending trainings and completing modules as required.

  10. Supports the program through attendance at events and meetings outside of scheduled hours as needed, including orientations, family events, staff meetings, trainings, early dismissal/late state/non-school days, etc.

  11. Direct staff in maintenance of program areas and supplies.

  12. Participate in professional growth by attending appropriate workshops and conferences.

  13. Assists in implementation of activity plans.

  14. Attend staff meetings as required.

  15. Respects confidentiality.

  16. Perform other duties as assigned.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Ability to assume the responsibilities of the facilitator when the facilitator is absent.

  • Ability to promote an encouraging, caring and safe environment for children, of varying ability levels and ages.

  • Ability to demonstrate respect, patience, compassion and sensitivity to the individual needs of children and their families.

  • Ability to supervise and support program staff as needed.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to interact with children appropriately on their level - bending, stooping, lifting and sitting on the floor.

  • Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of supervisor.

  • Must work well as part of a team and individually.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, department staff, other District personnel and the community.

  • Ability to set up an appropriate environment which may include moving furniture, carrying supplies, and lifting equipment.

  • Ability to access assigned locations within the Parkway and/or Rockwood School Districts.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early morning or evening hours when required.

  • Ability to lift at least 35 lbs either individually or with a co-worker as needed.


 


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Must be 18 years or older.

  2. High school diploma or GED/HSE preferred.

  3. College credit preferred.

  4. Two years experience working with children in a similar setting preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Within assigned building(s) in Parkway and Rockwood locations; outside of school buildings as needed, which may include during inclement weather.

  • While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.


 


Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a self-funded department and is not funded through the district's general operating budget. All positions are contingent upon the ongoing financial viability of the Community Ed program.
