Direct Supervisor:     Supervisor of Food and Nutrition  


 


JOB SUMMARY


The Permanent Substitute will work in the absence of a regular scheduled Food and Nutrition Services employees. Assignments will be made by the Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services. Start and end times will vary. Shifts will include but not limited to: Utility & Production for Satellite and Secondary schools and the Nutrition Center.

  • Perform all functions required by the assigned job as indicated by the supervisor

  • Assure proper food handling procedures are being followed

  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the food service area

  • Attend meetings conducted by the Food and Nutrition Services Director to increase knowledge and efficiency

  • Promote good working relationships with other school employees and the public

  • Interact with co-workers, administration, parents, and the community in a positive, supportive, and cooperative way

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services


QUALIFICATIONS


Special Qualifications:



  • Must have access to a working telephone or mobile phone to receive work-related communications and respond in a timely manner

  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between district sites as needed.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, completing tasks with minimal supervision

  • Must be able to accurately maintain ordering and inventory records

  • Must be able to interact with scholars and staff in a professional and courteous manner

  • Ability to participate as a member of a team

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment) taste and smell. The employee must on a continuous basis lift and carry up to 40 pounds and be able to stand for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.


 


WORK ENVIRONMENT


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 


 


 


MENTAL FUNCTIONS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
