Job Title: Level 1 Technology Apprentice

Position Summary:
The Level 1 Technology Apprentice is a high school student who assists the district’s Technology Department with basic technology support and maintenance. This entry-level apprenticeship provides hands-on experience in computer systems, troubleshooting, and customer service. The position is designed to help students explore careers in information technology while developing valuable technical and workplace skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up, cleaning, and maintaining computers, printers, and classroom technology equipment.
- Help troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems for students and staff under supervision.
- Deliver and retrieve technology equipment across classrooms and offices as needed.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records for devices, cables, and other equipment.
- Provide friendly and professional support to teachers, students, and staff members.
- Follow safety, security, and data privacy procedures at all times.
- Participate in on-the-job training, mentoring, and technology workshops provided by district staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of computers, tablets, and common software applications (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Willingness to learn about networks, hardware, and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to follow directions carefully.
- Positive attitude and interest in technology or related career fields.
Qualifications:
- Pre-requisite: Student must be summer technician for one summer or Tech Support Aide working under district staff for two semesters.
- Student must successfully complete a locally designed technology aptitude test.
- Current high school student in good academic standing.
- Preference is given to students who have completed Career & Technical Education (CTE) or related technology course preferred.
- Reliable attendance and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must follow all district policies and professional expectations.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in classrooms, offices, and computer labs throughout the district.
- May require lifting and moving equipment (up to 30 lbs).
- Supervised by district technology staff at all times.

By the end of the apprenticeship, the student will:
- Understand the basics of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
- Demonstrate safe and responsible handling of technology equipment.
- Develop professional communication and customer service skills.
- Gain insight into potential careers in information technology and technical support.
