Job Description

 

Park Support Staff

Reports to: Operations Manager

Part-time Seasonal Position, March-October

 

Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and safety functions of the park. Provides shuttle transportation services for visitors and guests including school group visits, special events and park-and-ride operations, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives an organization-provided bus or shuttle, providing safe and efficient transportation to the visitors of Grandfather Mountain.
  • Will park cars during high visitation to the park
  • Perform daily cleaning, vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers and full visual inspection of the vehicle.
  • Responsible for maintaining litter-free grounds
  • Communicates with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assists guests with questions and directions to various areas of the mountain.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Possession of a current CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded passenger van
  • Minimum of First Aid/CPR certification or willing to be certified
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team or individually
  • Ability to make decisions in emergency situations
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Flexible work schedule. Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on their feet for extended periods of time
