Park Support Staff
Reports to: Operations Manager
Part-time Seasonal Position, March-October
Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations and safety functions of the park. Provides shuttle transportation services for visitors and guests including school group visits, special events and park-and-ride operations, ensuring transportation system and passenger safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives an organization-provided bus or shuttle, providing safe and efficient transportation to the visitors of Grandfather Mountain.
- Will park cars during high visitation to the park
- Perform daily cleaning, vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers and full visual inspection of the vehicle.
- Responsible for maintaining litter-free grounds
- Communicates with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assists guests with questions and directions to various areas of the mountain.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Possession of a current CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate a loaded passenger van
- Minimum of First Aid/CPR certification or willing to be certified
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team or individually
- Ability to make decisions in emergency situations
- Have reliable transportation
- Flexible work schedule. Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on their feet for extended periods of time
