    The Special Education English Teacher provides individualized and small-group instruction in English Language Arts to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This teacher is responsible for designing and implementing differentiated lessons that develop reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills while meeting New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The Special Education English Teacher collaborates with general education teachers, case managers, related service providers, and families to support student learning, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with special education regulations.

    Job Summary:  
    • Key responsibilities include:

    • Developing and delivering standards-based English instruction tailored to diverse learners with IEP goals.

    • Implementing instructional strategies that support literacy, comprehension, and written expression at varying ability levels.

    • Administering assessments, analyzing student data, and adjusting instruction to promote growth.

    • Managing IEP responsibilities, including progress monitoring, documentation, and participation in meetings.

    • Collaborating with colleagues to adapt curriculum, provide accommodations, and foster inclusive practices.

    • Creating a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation, independence, and self-advocacy.

    Qualifications:  
    • Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and Teacher of English

    • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver differentiated instruction for students with a range of disabilities.

    • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the academic and personal success of all learners.

    Qualified candidates must have strong collaborative, planning and performance assessment skills; be knowledgeable in a variety of teaching strategies and a demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural, diverse community.
