Branch Officer (Torrance)
Minimum 5 years of banking experience in retail branch operations. Responsible for all daily branch operations and customer services. Ensures operational integrity with team work and adherence to bank policies and procedures for retail branch functions, including timely delivery and briefing of bank policies and procedures to branch staff. Monitor all procedures and able to make process improvement to ensure effective and efficient distribution of product and services. PC literacy and college degree preferable.
Summary/Objective:
Responsible for opening and closing of security vault, supervise and direct teller activities, assist in the work flow of the platform area, responsible for training the Retail Staff on the use of the banking core system, minimize operations loss and audit findings.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and supervise to ensure smooth retail banking operations on daily basis.
- Responsible for opening and closing retail branch premise following branch opening procedures.
- Responsible for opening and closing of cash, safe deposit box vault.
- Responsible to inspect and test the security system, such as burglar alarm, surveillance video system, bait money/dye-pack to ensure those systems are working properly. Report to the Operations for deficiencies.
- Responsible to observe, inspect and report to Operations for any branch premise facilities-related deficiency.
- Perform maintenance on customer accounts accordingly and as need.
- Supervise and direct teller activities. Override tellers’ transactions accordingly.
- Prepare and filing currency counterfeit report to U.S. Secret Services when counterfeit bills are identified.
- Review and approve all works and transactions done by tellers to ensure the tellers’ work is properly processed.
- Review merchant remote deposit capture transactions
- Perform branch self-audit
- File Suspicious Activity Referral to BSA Department as need.
- Review inclearing check items on daily basis.
- Supervise tellers ensuring compliance with bank operating policies and individual cash limits: monitor and ensure for proper and efficient operation and delegate work assignments.
- Handle customer complaints and problems between customers and tellers and/or refer to appropriate level of management following channel of command.
- Monitor and ensure that vault and cash under dual control adhering to security and operations procedures at all times.
- Assist tellers in researching and correcting daily cash proof when differences occur.
- Handle any returned item
- Research and respond to any levies or subpoenas received.
- Conduct cash count on teller cash boxes, vault cash on daily basis as well as on surprise basis as need.
- Conduct balancing of vault cash and ATM cash on daily basis.
- Review/Handle Daily Mandatory Reports: Non-Sufficient /OD/Kiting/Large Items. etc.
- Review and resolve any overdraft, non-sufficient fund, non-post items on the core on daily basis
- Review and prepare inactive and dormant account reports.
- Check daily general ledger cash transaction report.
- Review/Approve CTR and submit to BSA Department for e-filing.
- Review and approve customer's wire transfer applications and release outgoing wires in the core banking system.
- Handle customer inquires.
- Responsible for training the Retail staff on the use of the core banking system.
- Cross sell bank products and services, including all loans and deposit products.
- Comply with all applicable provisions of the law and regulation regarding Bank Secrecy Act, i.e., large currency transactions filing, know your customers policy, suspicious transactions and monetary instrument log recording.
- Comply fully with all banking regulations, such as Regulation D, DD, CC etc.
- Observe all security/internal controls and protect the facility against criminal or fraudulent operations.
- Comply with the Bank’s Policies and Procedures.
- Prepare various financial reports as requested by management.
- Record management – Manage and safe keep all the branch customer and transaction record as required by the record retention schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall operation and profitability of the branch.

Supervisory Responsibility:
- Supervise all retail branch staff include tellers and platform (New Account/Customer Services) staff.
- Assign jobs to respective staff and manpower arrangement to ensure the routine daily operations are smooth.

Bilingual in Chinese preferred (Mandarin / Cantonese)
